A vertical garden is a technique used to grow plants on a vertically suspended panel by using hydroponics. These unique structures can either be freestanding or attached to a wall. One of our main goals is to create living works of art. Therefore the next step is determining which plants to use. We strategically select species based on features such as colour, texture, pattern and size in order to achieve the greatest visual effect. The amount of light and moisture a plant require differs hugely from specie to specie and these are essential aspects we consider before placement. Our design strategy for indoor living walls is to maximize the number of species that are best at improving air quality. For our outdoor green walls we consider how the plants will evolve over the course of the year. We aim to create living walls that are interesting and beautiful at all times. Therefore bloom time, flower and foliage colour, and the use of evergreen plants are all factors in our design process.
